Course Overview
Are you a qualified tradesperson, site manager, construction manager or other building professional? Are you seeking to run your own small to medium-sized building company and apply for domestic builder registration? This course will provide you with the essential knowledge you need. With a focus on low-rise residential construction, you’ll learn from experienced industry professionals about all aspects of the domestic building process including:
- Domestic building contracts and legal obligations
- The building permit application process
- Low-rise structural principles
- Estimating
- Plan reading
- Planning and supervising low-rise construction work
- Safety management
- Dispute resolution
- Sustainability Principles
- Applicants will be required to attend a Pre-Training Review to ensure they have the necessary industry experience, as well as sufficient literacy and numeracy skills, to successfully complete the course.
Builder Registration
Along with relevant building experience, this course can support your application for registration in the class of Domestic Builder (Unlimited). This course also includes the prescribed units of competency required for registration in the majority of Domestic Builder (Limited) classes. The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) will consider this qualification as part of a broader examination of your knowledge and experience.

Simulation Learning
Using our state-of-the-art Building Leadership Simulation Centre (BLSC), this course includes a unique simulated learning experience. Set up as a realistic construction site, participants are immersed into real-life scenarios, typical of construction workplaces, giving you the opportunity to practice new competencies in a controlled environment.
