Applied Plan Reading

This course is delivered and assessed by Master Builders Association of Victoria (RTO no 3935). On successful completion of all course requirements, including assessment and attendance, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment by Master Builders Association of Victoria (RTO no 3935).

Course Overview

This course is suitable if you are a qualified tradesperson, registered builder, site manager, construction manager or other building professional involved the management of small to medium sized building businesses as well as the planning of onsite construction work.

This course outlines how to identify site characteristics, features of the proposed building and details of the construction. You will learn how to prepare sketches and drawings to show details and measurements required for building and construction work along with how to determine grid levels and contour plans. You will gain skills and knowledge on the following topics:

  • Read and interpret plans and specifications applicable to residential and commercial projects
  • Prepare sketches and drawings used for communicating ideas to clients and other parties
  • Use technical instruments and levelling and surveying techniques to accurately set-out a building on site
    This short course forms part of the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)
