This course is delivered and assessed by St John Ambulance (VIC) Pty Ltd (RTO no 88041). Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment by St John Ambulance Australia (VIC) Pty Ltd.
Course Overview
This course is for designated workplace first aiders in the building and construction industry and is intended for first time learners and first aiders who prefer learning in a face-to-face training setting. Participants systematically work alongside their trainer. This course applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations and workplace settings and is the minimum training requirement for personnel acting as designated first aiders.
Some of the topics covered include responsibility of the first aider, infection control, bleeding and shock, angina, fractures, sort tissue injuries, head injuries, epilepsy, heart attack, seizures, asthma, poisoning, burns, safety and injury prevention, fainting, diabetes, eye injuries, sprains, unconsciousness.
Students will be required to demonstrate competent CPR on an adult and infant mannequin, participate in two first aid scenarios, apply first aid procedures for a variety of first aid conditions and complete a written knowledge assessment.
