At the successful completion of this nationally accredited short course, you will receive a statement of attainment for the above listed units of competency.

Who is this cluster designed for?

This short course or cluster applies to individuals who are skilled in the creation of reports, information and general promotion documents more complex than basic correspondence, memos or forms and require review and analysis of a range of information sources.The unit applies to those working in a broad range of roles across all industries, including those working under supervision.

Course overview

The units in this cluster describe the skills and knowledge required to contribute to occupational health and safety (OHS) risk management. This includes the processes for identifying OHS hazards and assessing and controlling the risk relating to those identified hazards. This includes the development of processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace and monitoring their effectiveness. For this cluster, hazardous chemicals apply to those with the potential to harm human health, which may be solids, liquids or gases – pure substances or mixtures. When used in the workplace these substances often generate vapours, fumes, dusts and/or mists.This cluster also describes how to gather, organise, analyse and present workplace information using available systems and sources. This includes identifying research requirements and sources of information, applying information to a set of facts, evaluating the quality and reliability of the information, and preparing and producing reports. This cluster also describes the skills and knowledge required to plan documents, draft text, prepare final text and produce documents of some complexity.

Master Builders entry requirements

Due to the accelerated nature of this cluster, it is recommended that you have at least three years experience in the building and construction industry.

Mode of delivery

This cluster is delivered through a blended model. This includes attending both face-to-face classes and assessments are submitted through an online portal.

By the end of this short course, you will be able to:

  • Use a style guide and produce workplace documentation
  • Identify hazards in the workplace
  • Assist with completing a risk assessment
